Exclusions / Limitations:
ARW has a quick and easy claim submission tool online and designated phone numbers to make claims. Most folks describe claim submissions as relatively painless. They are able to get an appointment set and they describe the online phone agents as professional. There were a few reviewers that mentioned poor experiences with phone agents and long hold times.
Most customers receive good repair and replacement services overall. One common complaint is that there is lack of coverage in certain circumstances and that they will deny claims. This is one of the reasons that is absolutely important to read the contract if you have any doubts about what you are getting covered. Other complaints had to do with times where service providers were not excellent. Although this is mostly one-off, there were those that had experiences of feeling abandoned without service providers being active. Additionally, there is a Deluxe Package that covers extra exclusions for an additional fee that is not very well advertised.
American Residential Warranty vs. American Home Shield
One of the biggest differentiators that American Home Shield offers is its ability to customize its plan based on the appliances and systems that you actually use and need service for. This is a good way to save money. Overall, ARW doesn't provide service for washer/dryers in a holistic way and has some more stringent exclusions and limitations than American Home Shield. Although customers are satisfied with both overall, American Home Shield wins on value and overall experience.
American Residential Warranty vs. Choice Home Warranty
Choice Home Warranty has similar structure in terms of its plans. Overall, customers find that they get better service overall from Choice Home Warranty. They also have some more competitive pricing overall than American Residential Warranty.
American Residential Warranty vs. First American
Although First American offers the backing of a larger company servicing their customers in-house, ARW offers more in terms of plan options and customization. Overall, its a close call in terms of these companies and if you find that First American's pricing suits you, then there is definitely a case versus this company.
