Vivint is pretty good and I was skeptical. First off, I was approached by a door to door salesman. He was very professional and not pushy in the least. Best of all, he didn't lie to me. I found some bad reviews and brought them to his attention and he acknowledged them and let me know that they were usually people trying to get out of their contract early OR local technicians who are subcontracted. This is exactly what I had read, so I decided to go with the service.
I'm about a year into the service and I love it. The people monitoring have contacted me through the panel in a matter of minutes and I get text messages, emails and phone calls when the alarm goes off. It is impossible for me to miss strange occurrences.
The equipment has held up as well. Nothing has broken.
I integrated my NEST thermostat recently and it works great with their software.
Also, they update their software fairly often, which is a great plus.
Now on to the negatives. They are a little pricey, but you do get a lot of stuff and I find it worth the cost.
The reviews about the local contracted technicians is ABSOLUTELY true. You WILL have a rough time if you need someone to come to your home. It took 5 attempts to get someone to my home for a simple update to the firmware update (which turned into a wall panel replacement). I did not receive a visit, a phone call, a cancellation, NOTHING. It was the most frustrating experience I've ever had.
Like I said, I haven't had any equipment break, just the firmware issue, so hopefully you won't need an onsite technician.

We've had Vivint Security for a year. We had to contact Vivint once because the front door would not lock from app or keypad, the technician walked me through how to change the battery on the door lock quickly & professionally. We've had no issues with equipment, billing, or Service. They were quick to respond the one time our alarm was accidentally set off.
I personally like my alarm system. The ability to use it anywhere and set up custom actions for my convenience is great. The customer service reps that I dealt with were knowledge and helpful.
I replaced my old system with Vivint several months ago. The sales reps were great, informative, and professional. I called a couple of times with questions, and they were courteous and walked me through.Jan. wall mount went blank. Trued to fix over phone. Had to send out a tech. Also camers kept loosing wi fi. Tech said the installer used oldd systems wiring and caused it to lose connection. He ran new wire and fixed it, however. I was charged $49 for your error. Did not appreciate that. Overall satisfied.

I have had A Vivent security system for around 6 months. I have had a couple of minor equipment issues with an outdoor camera not connecting and a doorbell camera not working. Both cameras were replaced. I have found that the doorbell camera will stop working when the temperature falls below a certain point. Other than that I have no issues with the company. But their equipment is a little on the sub-par side.
We have been protected by Vivint for close to two years now. We are very happy thus far with the equipment and the customer support. We have, thank goodness never had to test their responsiveness.
Being able to lock/unlock a door remotely has been very useful on a number of occasions. I prefer to sleep in a much cooler room and find it a wonderful thing to be able to turn up the temperature before I crawl out of bed in the morning and be able to turn on the light in a dark room, all from the comfort from my bed.
Their apps are continually more responsive and easier to use. They are always adding more services that are easily added on and do not result in a higher monthly payment.

Told him about neighbor; looked her up and gave me credit.

I've had Vivint services since December 2015. I've been very impressed with installation, customer service, and the service itself. Vivint has been great to talk with over the phone, answer any questions I have, and resolve any problems I've had. Like any new technology, I've had a few problems, but all of them have been 100% resolved by Vivint.
I can only give them one complaint. I wish they called every time the alarm went off, even if it only went for for a few seconds. If I accidentally set my alarm off in the morning, and turn it off within seconds, they don't call. I wish they would. It would make me feel better to know that 100% of my alarms were responded to.

I love the vivint system. It is the most user friendly system I have ever had. My only complaint is they put in a new phone app that does not work as well as the old one. On rainy days, the app won't work outside to open and close the garage door as it is supposed to. That is the time I most want it to work.

I have had vivint installed on my home now for a year. This company is amazing. We had a fire right before Christmas time last year and because of vivint the fire damage to our home was very limited. With Vivint, I am sold on door bell camera. So handy and features like auto lock.... As soon as I am out and press the lock..... My home is secured. At night, I don't have to remember to arm my home. At a stipulated time, everything gets locked and armed right away. After i installed doorbell camera, I have never gone to purolator to collect my missed shipment. Because I can talk to them, when they are there for delivery.

I have been more than happy with my service. I needed to get my garbage out in a rush one morning and set the alarm off by mistake and deactivated when I re-entered the house. I did not have my phone on me when the attempted to contact me and the police had come to check on us. But then I heard about their customer service and I was forced to pass, but Intrution recommended me to a couple of fantastic companies that are consistently rated for their good customer service. Very satisfied with equipment, installation, and service. I had a smoke detector go off due to my adult son's cooking. The service response was prompt and effective. Notification via app (I was not home) was immediate.
The sales woman who knocked on my door one day, was super professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about the product. I was happy with all that she presented, and I signed up. They came that very day to install, however they had some troubles with a few of the items I had selected in my package. They did not come back with out me calling multiple times, and when they did they took care of everything except one thing: the phone connection of my doorbell camera to my phone. Due to my carrier, they were unable to get it to connect. They eventually gave up but I have to say the tech did try for 4 hours to get it to work. I still do not have it, and have honestly been too exasperated with my internet carrier to have them come back. Over all, I am very happy with the service.

At first I was hesitant on someone coming to my door trying to sell me an alarm system. Fortunately the rep was persistent in showing me why I needed the alarm. This was fortunate because 6 months later my home caught fire while I was away on a business trip. Vivint called me just like they said and got the firefighters there in time to save my home.
I will tell you if someone comes to your door saying they are with Vivint, first check to verify they are a rep (you can do so online with their badge ID), then hear them out. I didn't know when I would use this but I'm sure glad I had it when I did.
I had my vivint system installed last week and I did my research on the company prior to installation. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed by what many reviews sites were saying until I saw what they had to offer for myself. Vivint in comparison to the other options I checked out ( ADT,savvi homes, digital life, and xfinity) does not compare, their service and equipment is on a totally different platform in comparison to these guys. I wish vivint spent more money advertising but I understand the spend the majority in innovation. If you want a system that is reliable, affordable, and provides daily value I would suggest vivint.
So I had some door to door guy come to my door and I was little sketched out at first. I never like dealing with the annoying home improvement guys and cable door knockers. He told me he'd cover the upfront costs for everything and I was pretty intrigued. I let him in my house and he broke everything down and answered all of my questions I kept firing off I felt really good about it. I got 4 cameras locks a thermostat and all my doors and windows covered and I was paying around a candy bar a day for it. Overall I love the system and it's absolutely one of my most important bills in my budget! I'm gonna tell everyone I know about how awesome it is. 10/10
I have been a customer of vivint for the past 7 months, and it has exceeded all of my expectations thus far. I've accidentally set it off on 3 different occasions, and within 5-10 seconds vivint is talking to me right over the panel. I've also had to use their customer care support line on a couple of different occasions, and everytime they have gone above and beyond in not only helping me fix the problem but also answering any additional questions I may have, and even going over preventable measures to help that problem not occur in the future. Their panel is very sleek, and the seamless connection to my phone is amazing. Their app has proved to be very reliable and I have yet to not be able to use it when I want to use it. That is what I am most happy with! Overall I recommend vivint to all of my family and friends, and I can genuinely say my family feels much safer since installing our system.
I changed my current home security company to Vivint and their customer service on the telephone was excellent. The representative answered all of my concerns about Vivint and answered my questions. After hanging up the telephone from the representative and realized I had one more question. I requested that the representative call me back and he did. I was shocked. On August 8, 2017, a technician installed the system and he made me feel that I was the only customer in the world. All of my concerns and questions was answered professionally. The technician walked my husband and I through all of the settings on the panel, checked to make certain the system worked and showed us how to use the system more than twice. The technology that Vivint uses is up-to-date and user friendly. I LOVE THIS SYSTEM AND I AM SATISFIED 200%. Replaced an old ADT system with the vivint Smart Home system. Lower monitoring cost. Five-year interest free payback for equipment. Total monthly cost only $20 more per month for much more capability (entry doors lock/unlook, garage door open/closed, front/back cameras, thermostat). Did not tell me anything I did not know or have verified to be true. Did not put down or say anything bad about ADT. Did not promise specific energy or insurance savings. System works well and is easy to use. Sales, installation, and customer service representatives were very knowledgeable, helpful and personable.

My wife and I love the system. I love not having to use a key to enter our house. I love that the alarm is deactivated simultaneously when I use the security pad at my door. I love being able to adjust the temperature and turn on lights through my phone app. I love the connectivity to my Alexa app which allows verbal commands to operate the system. I love getting messages on my app letting me know when someone is coming or going. I love the fact that I can give an entry code to someone working at my home to allow them to come and go as needed without having to worry about the hassles of a key. I can then change the code after they are done. Need I say more.

I'm a fairly new customer of Vivint (late March 2018), a competitor company encouraged me to look up their reviews. So far I have been very confident and comfortable with my choice to use Vivint, after reading some comments I became a little concerned. But again I was directly by a competitor to check the reviews.
My experience originally was very professional, kind and helpful, same as my installation and I'm the kind of person that likes to ask a lot of questions, receive very specific answers so my understanding is very clear and there is minimal room left for misinterpretation.
Thus far I have had no issues with the system or had any reason to call customer service and my hopes are things remain that way.
So based on my dealings so far, I'm very happy with the capability of the system, the terms and agreement, I would defiantly recommend Vivint Smart Home Security to family and friends, I already have.
Vivint alarm system will go down on you! But if you don’t update it ,then the system won’t work for you because I experience it and I’m saying this because the system happens to be better then when I first had it installed and I’m loving Vivint again. So remember if it isn’t working update the system and it require a lot of time and back and forth.
This company has the worst customer service I have ever seen in my 55 years. I had an appointment for a technician to come fix my cameras between 10-12 and never showed up. I have the text from them about the appointment. I called and they said they didn't have an appointment. And set up a new appointment between 12-4 on a Saturday and no one showed up or even called and my cameras still aren't working properly. I would not advise anyone to chose this company for their security. The services they offer are no good if the equipment they supply you with doesn't even work. The feature to lock and unlock your door doesn't work and they left a hole in my wall when installing a camera So sorry to be stuck with them for 5 more years.
If the equipment this company uses was efficient enough to do what it is promoted to do, this system would be wonderful. I love the concept, just not the execution. Customer service has been friendly and helpful but as yet are unable to keep any of the equipment working properly or consistently. Now we are in a holding pattern, waiting for them to get a technician out here to replace the system hardware yet again. (3rd time) But this time have had to wait for 2 weeks. He is finally due here in 2 days. Meantime, the system has been down more than up. The app is not accurate, showing the door locked when it is NOT locked, system armed when it is NOT, etc. won't hold an Internet connection even with their router installed. Such problems render the system worthless. I will revisit this post after this next service call on Oct. 2, 2015 to update this review. Still holding out hope that they can get it to work as promised because if they could, it would be a wonderful system. Currently, it is NOT.
I signed up for Vivint 4 years ago. It has been a difficult 4 years to rectify equipment issues. Mainly because they only warranty them for 90 days including installation. It was like pulling teeth to have a rep come out to fix the multiple issues after this date. It was obvious it was because how the equipment was installed.
From then on everything was fine until I wanted to cancel the service. I asked from day one what the process was to cancel. I was told same day cancellation. When I called to cancel they told me it takes 30 days instead of the same day cancellation. I had to write a cancellation letter and send it in. For the next 30 days I was contacted by email or phone multiple times to renew. I politely declined each time, but as you can see they ignore my "no's". Overall it leaves a bitter taste of the company. Any customers deciding whether to have Vivint service, make sure you ask questions and read the fine print. I find they do not listen to you when it is not in their favour.
