Security & Monitoring Quality

SimpliSafe does well in terms of low priced and efficient home security packages. There are very limited reports of long term issues with equipment. Especially given the volume of sales that SimpliSafe does, this is positive for those that want a quick and easy system. One thing that we found to be a drawback on the equipment side was the lack of exterior video surveillance and also that smart home features aren't integrated today. These are areas where some of the competition does much better than SimpliSafe, but for most basic home security customers, these aren't big negatives.

On their monitoring offerings, they tend to offer competitive professional monitoring for an affordable price. There are a few caveats that may annoy some customers -- self-monitoring with custom alerts is only available with the higher tier. This is something that some competitors have available in their cheapest tier. Additionally, there are some negative feedback from customers concerning connectivity to the monitoring service. Though this is not a large percentage of overall customers, you'll want to do regular system tests to make sure the monitoring is active.
