LG WT5270CW Washer Customer Reviews
Best Washing Machine Ever!!!
The most quiet and efficient washing machine ever purchased. large capacity for bedding, and fills with lots of water compared to previous washers. One month and no complaints. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have had this washing machine for approx. a month now. I am completely happy with it so far. It is easy to use, washes clothes very well and is very quiet. I have noticed that I have to check sheets after washing since I use All pods, the packet doesn't always dissolve(I had this same issue with my old washer too). One thing that is annoying, but I will eventually get used to it is that every load you have to push the fabric softener button, it doesn't just stay on once pushed. I would also advise if you are looking for a washer and you are approx. 5'6"ish or below, you may need a stool to reach the bottom to get all the clothes out as it has a very deep tub 🙂
Lived up to my expectations
We were coming from a typical top-loader with agitator. It was amazing how big and deep the basin is! It doesn't require a lot of soap or a lot of water, yet the clothes come out very clean. We basically use the regular wash cycles and the bulky bedding. It has different temperature cycles. The standard cycle is 57 minutes long using warm water. I have found smellier clothes need extra attention, like sprinkling soap directly on clothes instead of in the soap drawer. But I'm extremely happy with this washer. The clothes are damp at best when cycle is finished, making it even better requiring a short drying cycle. Would highly recommend.

It was so hard deciding which washer to choose from all the different brands- especially after reading customer reviews. I am so pleased with the performance and efficiency of this washer! Water level is perfect, clothes come out clean and not over spun. This is my first washer without an agitator, and my light and delicate clothes look perfect. It is speedy too!

We purchased this products and the matching dryer a year ago. I have never once had an issue with the machine being off-balance as some have reported. This washer has simplified my life in so many ways. I can dump a ton of laundry into it, it gets clean, the dryer dries all of it in a flash, and I'm done. I couldn't be happier. I also love that it has an option to add more water if you feel like you need it.
A Clarifying Review
I recently purchased this machine. I had a bit of apprehension, based on the few negative and critical reviews I read here and elsewhere. Let me just say that every single complaint and negative word you read is clearly from someone who 1) did not take the time to read the owner's manual before using the machine and/or 2) did not watch any tutorial videos or videos made by existing customers to know what to expect. Yes, this machine works very differently from an older, conventional machine with an agitator. It makes funny sounds and motions sometimes, run whisper quiet, uses what may seem like not enough water, rinses differently...but if you follow the instructions and open your mind to other ways to get clothing clean, you will be absolutely delighted. I have washed a king size sherpa fleece blanket, a vintage king size quilt, jeans, towels sneakers, very dirty fabric, very delicate stuff...this machine handles it all. Plus I have noticed all my clothes are cleaner and softer than they were by my old machine, which leads me to believe that the old machine was not getting all the soap out. Don't let the naysayers rattle you. This is an amazing washing machine. Even my teen and adult kids like using it. Everyone in the house gets mesmerized watching it work through the glass lid. The only thing I'd like to be able to do is change the tune it plays when the load is over, but I must say it's unique and unusual enough to get our attention over the din of other electronic beeps in the house (this tune can be turned off, btw). Did you know the machine can talk to your smart phone? And you can teach it your favorite wash setting? And you can get wash stats? Hey man, all I wanted was clean clothes, and this machine delivers that and so much more. Can't wait to see the next water bill. Take it from me, a great piece of modern laundry technology!
Clothes go in dirty. They come out clean. Works as advertised.
I bought this and have done about 12 loads at least of various sizes of clothes, bedding, lightweight, heavy weight, cold water wash and love the results! Make sure to use only He approved detergent and not too much or you will not get good results. High efficiency detergents use 1/2 the amount of regular detergents so beware... Excellent Quality Washer!
I love, love, love this LG washer. I can't figure out some of the other negative reviews other than they may have a defective washer? I have had this exact model top load washer for approximately 2 months. Every single load of wash has come out wet and clean like it is supposed to. I have tried various different cycles.....I washed a double fleece king sized blanket on the bedding/bulky setting and it came out amazing! Don't laugh, but the very first load of wash that I did, I actually watched thru the clear lid the entire time. The average load of wash takes 45-50 minutes. I can't figure out how one reviewer loaded 7 pairs of jeans and the load took over 1 hour and 45 minutes to wash....not possible. This washer is very quiet and uses exactly the amount of water needed per load. I would recommend this washer to anyone. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Bought this washer a month ago and absolutely love it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Very quiet, excellent quality
LG Top load washer 5270 is well built and super quiet during operation... even heavy loads. Excellent features above competitors... you can select extra rinse without waiting for initial wash to complete and then select extra rinse like top competitor's top line washer. Simple , Sleek
I bought this 4 months ago and I can't begin to say how much I love it, actually love doing laundry. Turn knob, push 2 buttons and forget it. No measuring loads, setting water levels ,all done for me. Love it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Great Washing Machine
We bought this last month to replace the recalled Samsung machine. So far we are very happy with the machine. You can definitely wash big loads with this machine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Love this spacious washing machine. Lots of settings. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Our Best Buy Ever
The best feature is how little water is used and how quite the washer is. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
First day I have used my new washer and dryer. I was skeptical about getting clothes clean with the new technology in today's washer. I was astounded at how clean my whites came out. No complaints here and I love all the features and quietness. The dryer is impressive but concerned it would not hold and dry as much as the washer can do in a load. Faster because I cut out at least two rounds of washing because of the size of the tub in my new washer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Great Machin !!!
My husband purchased this washer along with the matching dryer last month. I am 57 years old and finally have a washer and dryer that I can honestly say makes my life easier when it comes to washing/drying clothes. My husband is an hunter and so his clothes are heavy and bulky and I always ended up at the laundry mat or doing 2 to 3 loads in my old washer. With this set I can do them all at once and the drying time is cut in half. HAPPY HAPPY 57 YEAR OLD [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Not what you're used to!
Technology-based washer. This is completely different from the old agitating days! Read your manual; use the settings you actually need; wash small loads on the speed cycle! Using less detergent saves you money! The ultra-fast spin cycle really wrings out the excess water which means less drying time and also saves you money on your electric/gas bill! Pre-Treat your stains; leave your washer lid open when not in use! Only use the amount of detergent recommended! do not use too much or you will damage the washer! Overall, this is not just a washer! IT'S A MACHINE!
I have had the washer for about 5 months and couldn't be happier. Easy to use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Was glad when my new washer arrived and noticed upon utilizing the machine already my clothes had a different look to them. The previous had served it's time 14yrs service but a new one was warranted. No bulky agitator in the middle and the wife was it doesn't look like it's doing anything. WRONG she was like wow when the 1st set came out. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
When the old washer (agitator style), broke down, we decided to buy a new pair of appliances. I found this model online and was intrigued by the fact it was top-loading but didn't use an agitator. So far, it has been an excellent washer; I am able to wash things I could not in the old washer, and our water use has gone down considerably. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
It has easy to use new features

I purchased this washer 5 years ago, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. It washes my king size comforter with no problems. We loved how clean our clothes smelled, that we washed our sheet sets once a week just to get that just washed smell. My washer still looks like it did on the show room floor. Thanks LG for making a great product. Life's Good

Very happy with this machine. It replaced a recalled Samsung, and it washes much better than any he washer we've had. The Samsung always left residue in our clothes, no matter how little soap we used. The LG also uses a little more water than the Samsung did and this seems to make a big difference.
Great results, easy to use
Bought this with matching washer. Gentle, accurate results for each type of load. Easy to use and great capacity [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Well built washer
I bought this washer a few weeks ago. So far i'm very happy with it. I noticed the tub does'nt bounce around like all the other brands. Seems to be the most sturdy tub I've found. A lot less chance of out of balance. Great job LG. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I was nervous to purchase this item. I had a cabrio washer it was the worst washer ever. This washer is the best washer I've ever used. Cloths are clean and very dry when they come out of the machine. LOVE this washer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Best washer we ever owned
We been using this washer for 1 month and can honestly say it's by far the best washer we ever used. The cloths wash clean, bright and in half the time as our old washer. My family highly recommends this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought this washer as a result of the Samsung recall. It is very quiet, washes quickly, and the tub is not as deep so easier to read the bottle of the tub. I've been very happy and recommend this product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Who knew I could love doing laundry?
I bought this washer a month ago and I love it. My clothes come out clean and fresh smelling. I use way less water and detergent. I can clean a large amount of clothes, towels, or bedding at one time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
It's the first washer I've had without an agitator. Very quiet and does a great job cleaning. I do a lot of laundry! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I'm very happy with this washer - still learning the "advanced" features - but have had wonderful results with cleaning and water saving it a plus. It is quiet - except the music!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Our old washer was 10 years old and it was time for an upgrade. The new washer is way more quiet than our old one. Love the increased capacity since we have 2 young boys are constantly doing laundry in our house. So far the clothes are coming out clean. We were a little concerned at first since there is no agitator and we heard mixed reviews on whether the increased space at the cost of the agitator was a good thing. So far so good but we have only had the washer for about a month now.
Outstanding washing machine.
This washing machine has exceeded all of our expectations. Super capacity. Great cycle selections. Would purchase again. Have already recommended to family and friends. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
i love my new washer better than any washer i've ever had..easy to operate, big tub, and it's quiet..love the music at the end of the wash to let you know when it's done.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Great Washer with Little Water Use
We have been using this washer for over a month now and I am still surprised at how clean are clothes are with so little water. Its great in saving water. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have had this washer for approximately a month and have enjoyed it immensely. The spin cycle is great and no vibration and noise like my other washer! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Bought this matched set a year ago. Does everything as advertised. Can handle really large loads. Always gets clothes clean. Controls are easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone.
To be able to wash two blankets and a couple of pillows in one load has been a time saver. Very happy with my choice. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Had 1 week, seems good so for. I'm going to have to get use to, that the water doesn't cover cloths, but I guess that's the new thing. I'm old school, don't like changes. We will see. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Forgot To Mention...
I wrote a review earlier because today I was unhappy to learn of the lack of control over wash cycle length. I forgot to mention that on 2 previous occasions after I ran loads through the washer I found undissolved soap powder on several items that had been "washed." I use an HE laundry soap, so was surprised. I think it's at least partly due to the washer not filling with enough water to cover the load and dissolve. I have sometimes looked through the glass lid and seen items that appeared partly dry, so I paused the cycle, opened the lid and pushed the dry items into the water by. hand. I want to be in charge of my laundry!
I want to be in charge of my laundry, rather than having the washer call the shots. I want to dye some rugs, which was very easy to do with my old washer. The dye needs to agitate for 15-30 minutes on the "wash" cycle. I have been told there is no way to set a specific length of time for the machine. There's not even a program available with the "Tag On" feature. I miss my old machine...the newfangled ones take such a long time to wash clothes and are not adaptable for custom needs. The only solution I can come up with is to get the tub full of hot water and dye, stop it for 4 minutes and agitate by hand, restart and repeat several times. Not efficient! An HE washer seemed like a good idea at the time, but we are not impressed with this machine's ability to actually clean our clothes.
Not happy with the rust collecting by the bleach tray
Not real happy with this machine. I had such high hopes for it too. This was my first HE Washer and i paid more for it because i thought i was getting a better product. It looks pretty with the stainless steel tub and the window on top, the lights and fancy jiggles when the wash is finished but it doesn't clean any better than the $400 model i bought previous to this one. The fact that there rust forming around the bleach tray really irritates me. Perhaps this is the reason this model is being discontinued. This machine was not cheap. Warning: just because you pay more doesn't mean you get a better product. Next time i'm going back to the cheap model.

We bought this washer 6 years ago as an upgrade to a really old set. The machine works well. It gets off balance easily with towels and big loads. I am most disappointed in the rust around the bleach cup and along the inside of the lid. This machine is very hard to keep clean. The top of the drum collects dirt and is difficult to clean. It has a very stinky smell to it. I am cleaning the tub after 2 or 3 washes to keep my cloths smelling fresh. This was an expensive washer and I expected it to last much longer than it has.
The cycle times are not as fast as I was expecting. About an hour per wash. But if you do a load of towels forget about it. It goes uneven 90% of the towel loads, no matter how many towels are thrown in the washer. This results in an inordinate amount of babysitting the washer to help it get thru a full wash cycle. I would NOT buy this again and recommend finding a different top load

I have had this washer for over a year and I absolutely hate it! It is not conducive for my family of 3. It never weighs my clothes properly and hardly ever adds enough water (on it's own). I always have to monitor the water level and almost always have to add more water. The manual states that it is normal for the water not to cover your clothes (hence water efficient) and that it washes and cleans your clothes properly. That is a bunch of bologna! I have tried this and my clothes come out smelling dirty and unclean. Therefore, I have to re-wash the load (so much for water efficiency) and add more water! I have tried rolling the clothes and positioning the clothes along the bottom sides of the washer as the manual states, but it rarely every cleans my clothes properly without me having to monitor it and again, add more water! I wash everything under the bulky bedding setting and still have to sometimes stop and restart the load so that it adds enough water. I like for my clothes to smell fresh and clean and like to add quit a bit of fabric softener, but this washer only has a very small compartment for adding fabric softener. Once the wash cycle is complete, you can't even tell that fabric softener was added. Once again, I have to STOP the rinse cycle to add more fabric softener. Don't even get me stared on the length of time that it takes to wash a single load! I don't think it is worth the $800 bucks that I paid for it. I miss my old fashion larger agitator washer that I could add clothes to without having to push a stop button and add more water. I think it would work better for a single person or a couple that doesn't have much laundry. It does work better with smaller loads (about 6 articles at a time ). I wish I could send it back. I'm tired of having to monitor and keep checking the washer to make sure that my clothes are being washed properly! I am not at all happy with this washer! 🙁

Had washer 4 and half years, often gets uneven and have to adjust load, does not matter small or large load. Six months ago washer broke down half full of water with clothes locked in washer. (Thank goodness I purchased five year warranty) Service came out after a couple days and was able to unlock, but left water in washer, had to drag clothes out, quite a mess!!! Needed new board and water pump, took over two weeks for service company to get parts and return with and fix. The cost of repairs, service and parts were more than the original purchase price of washer. Last night washer broke down again with clothes locked inside and half full of water. Made call for service claim last night, had to upload purchase info, because they now say they don't have it in the system. Down loaded what they asked for, now saying they still need more information.
Machine failed to work properly
Machine less than 3 years old has failed, goes into unbalance mode so takes hours to wash, with constant re-balancing load no matter how small or large, wastes lots of water and time. Customer support is not helpful and there is is electronic issue with the software. We had repair service tell us the LG washers have this as common issue, and needs software update. Customer support denies this and will cost over $500 to fix. Worst washer ever, although it looks nice, not functional. LG does not stand behind their product.
If I could give it no stars I would. The washer vibrates and slams itself so hard that it pulls itself 3-5 feet from the wall. It pulls the drain hose out of the wall, drains water all over, goes through a fill and drain cycle numerous times, and takes hours to finish a load. Had it flood the house twice and ruin some of my belongings before realizing I had to babysit the washer and literally sit with my back to the washer and my feet against the wall to keep it from migrating. Called LG and they said this is normal behavior. Asked if I've used more settings than just "bulky/bedding" and I have. Doesn't matter if I wash a few shirts and socks or if I'm washing a blanket, the washer goes ape. It knocks and slams itself so violently--I've never seen anything like it. Returning this unit. Ive only had it just over a week. Really disappointed with LG
Unable to soak load for more than 30 minutes
Many features available, however, if you want to do something beyond the 'programmed' events, you are unable to. For example, I would like to be able to soak cloths fro several hours before washing, the pre-soak option only allows you 30 minutes, you are unable to extend this time. Technology is great, but I would like to have the ability to do what I want, not something some engineer things I want to do. Also, unable to submit this review until I agreed to receive sweepstakes entry, NO was not an option to select. Come on now. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought my LG washer in 2012 & loved it at first, hey it played music! Then after about a year I noticed a small rust stain by the bleach dispenser , but I ignored it. Fast forward to 2017 and it's completely corroded underneath the bleach dispenser, if I take a hammer to it , it will crumble! I went online to see if there any recalls on the washers, I didn't find any but I did find a lot of unhappy consumers with the exact same complaint! So I contacted LG and got the same old answer the others got, that I spilled bleach and it was past the warranty ! yada yada yada. So, if bleach does in fact cause this corrosion then every washer in history would have this same problem! LG washers last 1 to 5 years and they don't care about the consumers
I have only had this washer for three years terrible constantly unbalanced unless you do large loads. LG support is terrible no one speaks English you can't understand them terrible. Got a quote today only after three years I need a new main board and new springs to help balance it!! Totaling $649 now I have to buy a new one it's not worth repairing the worst washer ever !!!! It's been terrible since day one I've been dealing with it no wonder my water bill is $80 just for my husband and I!! efficient not when it becomes unbalanced it keeps washing and washing sometimes if I have a small load it takes over four hours to wash piece of junk don't waste your money !!
I would give negative stars if I could
HORRIBLE!! Buy this machine if you like lots of lint and some type of liner from the machine ALL OVER YOUR CLOTHES! I have repeated the "tub clean," several times, used different cycles, different settings, different soaps, different amounts of soap, no soap to no avail. This one is a LEMON!

We have fought ours for about a year. You have to babysit it to get through a spin cycle because it will say it's uneven and refill over and over if it gets uneven. Well the last straw was today after fighting it for 30 minutes on a normal sized load of clothes I just paused it and put the wetter than I wanted to clothes in the dryer. Just for grins after unloading it I had it finish the spin cycle empty. Yup, you guessed it, it said it was uneven with no clothes in it at all. $700 mistake. Just bought a replacement washer with an agitator and am hoping for a better product at half the cost. My current washer will be hauled away by the delivery guys and some poor fool will probably get it cheap. I wish them well. If it was not so heavy I would haul it out to the country and shoot it to pieces on video for youtube. I may have gotten a bad one, but look hard at the reviews and it is not just me. This product is JUNK.

Never ever ever recommend this lg washer. This washer is garbage. Only four years old and rusting badly around the bleach tray and under the lid. Our last washer lasted 20 years. Because it's out of warranty from Home Depot, neither Home Depot nor lg will repair it. What a waste of money. I will never buy another appliance from lg. Not quality long term.

I am so sorry I bought this washer. It's fine if all you want to do is 'refresh' cloths, but when they have any kind of dirt on them, it doesn't actually get them clean. As well, I follow all the instructions very carefully - including extra rinse and more rinse water options - and, still, when I use bleach (and hot water) for whites, not only doesn't it get out the dirt, it leaves the clothes and sheets smelling of bleach. I have had technicians come out several times, including having the 'motherboard' replaced, and it still operates the same. The technicians finally say it's the way the machine works. Doesn't make sense that a washing machine is made to work so that it doesn't wash.

I thought I wanted to get away from the front loading washer I had, BUT - this top loader does not clean our clothes! Many times, the entire load does not even get wet. Dry spots on sheets, towels, etc. I guess it does save water, but no matter what settings I use, it just does not clean. It is a total waste of money. And no matter which setting I use, the clothes are so winkled each time that you cannot just wash and hang laundry now. But maybe you love to iron. Not me! So wish I could afford to dump this and get another front loader. They clean, they spin, they use little water. What was I thinking? Beware of this machine if you like your clothes clean and unwrinkled. But you will love the water economy. Use more water in this then I ever did in my front loader. Just a bad purchase!

Very disappointed with my LG washer. Leaves my black slacks with residue (and anything dark.) Don't know what it is detergent or lint. I'm using Tide he detergent. I'd like be able to change the water level but you can't. Bummer!! I would like to go back to a center agitator. I would not recommend this washer or any with out a center agitator. Modern technology is not always best.

I have used this washer about four months. Although I bought it because of its larger size, it is adequate with small to medium sized loads and not great with larger loads. Like other reviewers have noted, the rinse cycle doesn't rinse away all the dirt. Since I have three dogs, I had hoped to use this washer for their blankets, but for that purpose it is nearly useless unless I watch it constantly. If the load is "off-balance," it stops and I have to restart the spin cycle. Today, I've spent four hours trying to wash three light blankets that do not even take up half the space in this washer. Even with half a cup of Tide and a cup of bleach, one of the blankets looks as dirty as it did when it went in the washer.

Worst Washer Ever! We bought the washer/dryer pair back on 9/9/14. LG is supposed to stand for Life's Good. Well, it was not good at my household after this purchase. It makes its fancy noises and lights up, but can it clean? NO! The cycle always took much longer than the machine originally estimated. Tell me, how is that energy efficient. At first, we called and they did some high tech service through the phone line to reprogram or reset it. But, the quality of cleaning and the time it took to clean (do to its special sensor) became no longer tolerable. We put up with it for almost 2 1/2 years. I got tired of hearing my wife and kids complaining about how bad this machine was. Finally, we decided to go back to the original type machines with an agitator. Yes, it actually moves the clothes around and requires sufficient water to wash your clothes and they actually get clean! We bought a Maytag Model# MVWB765FW0 and it is GREAT! The operation is simple. When set right, it uses the right amount of water and it CLEANS WELL! My son works in a restaurant as a Server and his clothes take on all kinds of smells and stains. The Maytag makes it smell clean and fresh. We lost money by trashing the LG. But now our whole family can say Life is Good!

Horrible!!!! Let the pictures speak for themselves! Buy this if you like massive amounts of lint and some type of black liner from inside the washer all over your clothes. I have tub cleaned the machine several times and tried different settings, different soaps, different amounts of soap, no soap, different amounts of clothes in the loads to no avail. I have only had this machine since the end of Nov 2016 and it's done this from the beginning, but it's getting worse! I have had two people sent out by LG to look at the machine with nothing they could do as the machine is running through it's cycles. LG tech support suggested to one of the technicians who came to my house that I stop the machine mid-cycle (as it's washing a load), manually open the lid of the washer and add water from a pitcher to the load since one of my complaints is it doesn't add enough water!!! They also said that only the delicate and bulky bedding cycle add enough water for all of your clothes to be completely under water. The picture of the "Massive amounts of lint on pants," I had lint rolled these and washed them after the 5th "tub clean" was ran. I have literally need to wash each load twice to get them somewhat clean. Ever since the technician came out and ran some different cycles, this is what's been happening. LG is in no hurry to resolve their defective machine; there is literally no customer service. I am disgusted with LG and this whole experience. I am posting this so another unsuspecting consumer doesn't make the same mistake I did. Shame on you, LG! Why don't you stand by your product?!?!?!
