A GREAT PRODUCT AND EXPERIENCEView More Reviews
Consumer reports rates this poorly but exactly because of why we bought it. It's a simple gas top and oven with no electronics but the lighters, bulb in the oven, and convection fan. It just works. You don't need fancy electronics to cook fantastic food and at several thousand less than a ge monogram of the same size, it's got great value.
This thing is built like a brick ... building. It's a very impressive unit, and everyone who deals with them seems to prefer them to the more known popular brands at the price point. Cooking on it is very satisfying. If you're a heavy use cook, you'll appreciate it. If an engineer in your life struggles with the price point being on par with a used car, embrace that it's less than 2 MacBook Pro's, will feed you, and will last much longer than those 2 computers. Note that the burners are still just 15k and that if you want 22k or 25k burners, you'll need to move up the line (and possibly upgrade your gas service as you may be limited by your house's installed plumbing diameter). Some notes: It is VERY heavy. Consider some moving discs (aka 'the Moving Men') to put under the feet if you take delivery during a kitchen remodel where the unit has to go back and forth a bit because it is no fun moving it. Installers will want them gone however for final leveling. It also doesn't move particularly well with straps and that it calls for a pallet jack for moving around (the delivery drivers made due with an appliance dolly). Note also that unlike most consumer ranges, the back on this unit is quite flat, so you may need or want to recess your gas connection into the wall to hide the gas line so the unit can back up to the wall without a large gap. Most consumer ranges have a back that recesses so the gas line can coil there.
