Why Home Brands?

Hi, I'm Chris Moberg, the nerdy bearded guy on the right.

It all started when my wife and I were looking into buying our first home. Our real estate agent mentioned a home warranty as a way to cover our appliance and system repairs without the hassle or expense of having to pay for each breakdown ourselves. It sounded like a great idea, but we were sceptical and confused.

We were out of our league, drowning in all the lingo and coverage options. In the end, we just wanted to understand which home warranties were trustworthy, covered the right items, and were competitive for the money. Shouldn't be that hard, right? Well it was. I would try navigating these sites to read sample contracts -- only to go to sleep exhausted by indecision. Then, my wife and I created a decision spreadsheet from my findings online and things started to get clearer. But, what about home security and other home services that we needed?

With that experience, I had an epiphany. It shouldn't be so hard to find good reviews and score home services based on public information while having a clear and easy to use navigation. That's why I created Home Brands -- a perfect marriage between data and decision -- in the hopes that it helps others get their home covered while dispelling the myths.

Finding the right home service plan in an ocean of online reviews can be a tedious task. This site's purpose is to provide a detailed account of available home service plans in the US. The scores here are based on aggregated reviews from other sources across the Internet and although we have tried only to find trustworthy reviews, the scores may be affected if outside sites do a poor job mitigating fake reviews.

The makers of Home Brands also make affiliate commissions from some of these home service companies to keep the site running. We do not allow that to affect our scoring. There is NO additional price markup for using this site or on links from this site and any commissions made by Home Brands come out of the home service company's profit margin. See how it all works here.
